A lot of applicants, few Citizenship judges.

So with the changes from August 1st where Officer will be the decision maker, will it impact the timelines for these provinces?

Or this will be only for applicants who will apply after August 1st.

Thank you.

The reason is, the prairie region is where the conservatives are hoping that they will still get a rally on 2016 election.
They already have the numbers figured out. If they open up the flood gates of new citizenship now then that will defeat the number of red neck voters.
Watch in 2015 as the cons will try their last hurrah to process the citizenship application within 8 months instead of 24 to 36 months.
I will never forget this this unacceptable long waiting time. Vote wisely!

I agree Canuto. Tories are trying real hard but am sure their fate will be sealed in 2016.

Wishing all a fast processing!

This talk of conspiracy about processing times is totally baseless imo. Ontario has traditionally had the largest share of immigrants so that is where processing resources were concentrated. Unfortunately the economy of Ontario is a complete mess (blame the Liberal government?), so now a far larger % of immigrants are going to AB and SK etc where there aren't the resources to process their immigration/Citizenship applications hence the delays there, whilst you have reducing delays in Ontario.

Hi

1. CJ issue mostly a red herring...Calgary applicants getting oath in 2 months after test but taking 16-20 months to get to test. So the delay is in test schedule which is nothing to do with the CJ. Simply not enough CIC staff resource to effect a fast transfer and test. There is a regular census in the main cities and everyone knows the AB economy is booming - its common sense to match the relevant resources be they schools, hospitals and staff required. Charge applicants 500 bucks if need be they will pay it if its a cost recover issue.

2. What will resolve this though is pre-application testing policy (like the UK has) so the inventory is purely made of oath ready applicants. But doing this will expose the ineptitude/ inefficiency of the process and take away the political value of immigration as an electoral issue - why the Feds sweat this is beyond me. If the Liberals can't work on the angle that they left the economy at a huge surplus and the Conservatives have put us in major debt why sweat the CIC remit?
