I came to Canada as a worker and were not able to renew my work permit I applied to extend my stay as a visitor and my application as a visitor still pending I got married last month to my bf who is Canadian citizen can he apply for spouse sponsorship although I have expired immigration status?

Do you mean TRP or TRV? TRV is a regular visitor visa. TRP is a special permit typically issued to those who are inadmissible to Canada due to a crime or for another reason.

If you meant to say a TRV in your subject line - then you are on implied status as long as you applied to change your status to a TRV before your work permit expired.

Yes - your spouse can sponsor you.
