Application for new WP when waiting for LMO.

Hi,

Regarding LMO and implied status, I would appreciate any answers from matter experts or those who have been through same situation.

Here's my situation.

My employer has applied for an LMO through a lawyer about 3 months ago( exactly three months tomorrow to be precise) and I am still waiting for the decision.My work permit expires in about 19 days from now.

1. How long do you think it shall be before I hear any thing about LMO decision?
2.Can I apply for a WP extension to CIC without LMO stating that I have applied for LMO (I have heard in some cases they do not accept app. without LMO approval)?would they accept it?
3. Would i be able to continue working after my current wp expires and I have applied for an extension without LMO?
4. In what situation do I might have to apply through CPC Vegerville?
5.would it be helpful if I called CIC help centre for these queries?

I would appreciate any help in this matter.Thanks in Advance!

You can apply for an extension of your WP with the LMO reference number & CIC would normally wait for 2 months or more depending on the current processing times (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp) before taking a final decision on your WP application.

If you are applying for renewal of WP with the same employer you would be in "implied status" allowing you to work legally till a decision is made by CIC on your WP application.

Please ensure that CIC receives your WP application before the expiry of your current WP to maintain your legal status in Canada.Note that if your application is denied, you still have 90 days to restore status provided you have your LMO confirmation.
