I'm looking for stories from Canadians who used the process "Application for Canadian Citizenship - Adopted person" to pass on their Canadian citizenship to their adopted child. I am a Canadian citizen living in the USA (US permanent resident) who adopted 2 American boys from foster care. I'm trying to pass my Canadian citizenship on to them so we can move home to Canada. How long should I expect this to take?
I have had a hard time finding ANY posts related to this specific situation. Any insight is appreciated
Here's what I've been told so far - 4 months since they received my applications (part 1 of the process: CIT 0010)
We received your application for Canadian citizenship for a person adopted by a Canadian citizen (after February 14, 1977) - Part 1 Confirmation of Canadian citizenship of the adoptive parent(s) on November 3, 2015.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on November 3, 2015.
We started processing your application on February 2, 2016.
Thanks!
Grant
