Hey there,

I have just recieved an LMIA after a long process (Since December), my end of the application is still underway but my employer has the confirmation on their end.
I want to have a PR application in the pool as I know that with a LMIA my CRS points will be sitting somewhere between 440-465, what is getting me stuck is that when I go through the eligibilty test thing to get a reference code, it asks me how much money I will be bringing into Canada. I currently already live here as I finished a working holiday visa in January and changed over to a temporary visitors visa, I rent an appartment and I'm very much "established" here. I know that for some applications, if you have proof of being established you don't need settlement funds and I'm pretty sure that I fall in that category.

My biggest thing is, when I say I don't have the settlement funds, it will say I'm not eligable but if I have the minimum funds I am. I don't want to lie on my application and say I have it and then get an ITA and say otherwise. I want to move here haha. It doesn't ask me where I'm living either so I can't really say that I am established either.

Any ideas on how to show that I am established or do I just do the minimum funds and then show the proof of settlement if I recieve an ITA?

Thank you,

Joe

You must have the minimum funds if you want to set up a profile in Express Entry right now. If you don't have the minimum funds, then you cannot apply at this time. You will have to wait until you have a valid work permit again and can qualify for an exemption to the minimum funds requirement by having a job offer in Canada and a valid work permit. Once you have these things, you'll be able to set up an EE profile.

No - you cannot show proof of settlement instead of minimum funds once you get ITA. Proof of being established doesn't count for anything under EE.
