Application and time concern

I have recently applied for PR through common law sponsorship. I also included an open work permit application. I am currently under a work permit that ends soon and I applied less than 30 days before the expiry date. I am currently employed, and my work permit stipulates that I should leave the country by the time indicated.

Should I stop working, or is there a chance that I will still have implied status? If I do stop working, can I still remain in Canada as I am waiting on PR assessment?

You will have Implied Status.

I strongly suggest you submit a visitor extension app before your current work permit expires in case the PR/OWP app is returned.
