APLPLIED DEDERAL IMMIGRATION, BUT STAYING IN QUEBEC

Hi,

I am currently employed in Montreal Quebec and have been staying in Montreal for almost 17 months.Since i have inability to speak in french, i decided to apply federal immigration. and i have applied as planning to settle in Toronto Ontario.Its been almost a year now since i have apllied for it and i have recieved the file number .However since i am staying in Quebec , is that a problem? i have applied at Buffalo USA.
Please let me know.

It should not be a problem as you are a temporary resident of Quebec. You should plan to live outside of Quebec (that's what it says when you apply for federal immigration). You cannot land in Quebec once you get the immigrant visa.

Also i received my immigration file number on 9th March.How much time does it take usually from then on going forward for the completion of the process.
