Hello Everyone.. I have been trying and trying to find an answer to this question but i am unable to do so anywhere on the internet and in this forum. The question is very specific, but in order to understand this question, one has to first know the whole picture.

Take my case for example. I have a 3 years Graduation degree and an MBA with 7.0 CGPA or division 1 grade from India. Still WES recognized my graduation as equivalent to 3 years Canadian undergrad degree; and hence my MBA was recognized to be Canadian equivalence of 4 year undergrad degree. I have clb level 9 and i don't know where to go, whom to ask or what to do in order to get my masters degree assessed as an equivalent to Canadian masters. Apparently everyone knows, that it makes one loose those important 40 CRS points, hence, sabotaging one's immigration prospects.

For the same purpose, i have two questions which i would like my fellow members to answer - if they can spare some time for it.

1) Is there anyone in this forum or group who (or your friend) has a graduation degree of 3 years, and has been recognized as canadian equivalence of bachelor's degree of 4 years? If yes then how? i have heard that MBA from premier institutes like IIM and IIT's are easily recognized in the same manner.

2) Is there any other organization like WES who might perhaps me more lenient when assessing my master's degree since i have a distinction grade or a CGPA of 7.0 in my MBA degree which is equivalent to 'A' grade in most north american universities. Please suggest if any?

Looking forward to some valuable guidance and feedback from experienced / intellectual members here in this forum.

Thanks and best regards,
Kaizad ???

Quite a few forum members are grappling with the same question and someone did mention that they will be checking with WES on this front. Haven't seen any updates from their end yet.

In the past, WES has assessed the same credential differently for US and Canada. That's how it is and one can't do anything about it. Any other CIC approved accreditation agency would give the same report because they will have the same metrics to determine equivalency. If different agencies gave different results, there will be no point in having approved accreditation agencies in the first place because the objectivity of the process would be lost.

Looking forward to some valuable guidance and feedback from experienced / intellectual members here in this forum.

Thanks and best regards,

Okay asivad, can you then answer one more thing?

In the CIC website, under the section Express Entry education factor, can i select 2 or more certificates / diploma's or degrees?

I am asking you this because CIC has clearly stated that one One must be for a program of three or more years. This means even though my master's degree is not recognized, i still get both the degrees recognized as two separate ones... if that's true, my CRS scores will pip like never before. Please advice and guide what to do in such a case?

Before I answer that, paste your WES report here so that we know what exactly they say.

I am yet to receive the official results. May be in the next 2-3 days will get it. Currently speaking from the results of degree equivalency tool and from the experiences of my fellow mates.

The short answer is, you can choose the "Two or more..." option if both your degrees have been evaluated independent of each other. If they have been evaluated as a combined 4 year Canadian Bachelors degree, you will have to choose Bachelors.

Let's wait for your official report and revisit this.

Thanks for saying that with such certainty. In my WES evaluation tool results, it does evaluate both the degrees independently. However, i will come to know the overall summary only at the time of receiving the final result from WES. I will copy and paste the same here for everyone's reference.

Also could you give an example as to what exactly do you mean by getting independent degree evaluation?
For instance, My one degree is considered as equivalent to 4 year canadian bachelors degree and the other is a 3 year bachelor's degree. In this case which option should i select?

Another example that i have found being repetitively mentioned on the forums by indian folks is that their evaluation reports stated two degrees. one being equivalent to a "canadian bachelor's degree of 3 years" and the other being equivalent to "one year graduate study". If that's that case, then what option should one go for under the education section at the CIC portal?

An example of a combined evaluation would be equating a BSc/MSc as a 4 year Bachelors degree. Or a BA/MA combination. In each of these cases, the 3 year Bachelors degree was evaluated as a 3 year degree while the 2 year Masters degree was evaluated as a 4 year Bachelors degree. That doesn't imply that the applicant has 7 years worth of Bachelors degrees. It means that the 5 years of education (BSc + MSc) has been condensed into a 4 year Canadian Bachelors which leaves the applicant with only Bachelors equivalence in spite of their local Masters degree.

People who have got '1 year of graduate study' are in a fix because that doesn't mean a 2nd degree has been awarded so technically they can't choose "Two or more...".
