any specific reason why take 5 years and still not finalized ? did you lost passport,

or refugee status ? or any other specific reason as there are very few cases I have

heard about 5 years delays in citizenship application.

Looking at your comment, I remember an electronic ad. When the guy first bought some electronics, he was still single and looked very young. Then he got married and the the family was still using those electronics, then his daughter is graduated and his wife is washing the graduation dress with the same washing machine, and they are already old couple. LOL Electrolux.

While losing a passport often causes delays in the citizenship process, being a refugee does not. Being a refugee is not a cause for suspicion. A refugee applying for citizenship is the same as any other PR.

*The only extra concern a refugee needs to take into account when applying for citizenship is whether they traveled back to their home country for any reason, as this can put their PR and their pending citizenship in jeopardy. It's important to speak with a qualified refugee lawyer in that case before submitting an application.

I mention this because refugees are often unfairly looked down upon. So it's important not to suggest that refugees have done something wrong or require extra scrutiny just because they're refugees. That's not the case.

This place has some really insightful information. below is my timeline:

Applied June 2012
Started Processing: Jan 2013
Test: Aug 22 2014
oath: No response
Office: Surrey

Does this qualify me to apply for Mandamus. I am not trying to follow the trend, but I feel that if there is no response till Oct 2014, I will be hitting 28 months mark. At what point do I make a move.

During my test, she made me sign a paper saying, I will get information from CBSA about your entries and exits as you have travelled a lot. My fear is, does this mean I can get RQ? I fear rubbing them the wrong way for sure. Any advise will be much appreciated

Yes you are qualified for mandamus as processing time for routine application is 24 months

and at this moment your case is 27 months as you have given a test in June 2014,

you have a good chance to get the oath within next 30-45 days in my opinion you

should wait for another two months and if nothing come up you may hire a lawyer

for mandamus in this case lawyer fees approx 3.5- 4.0 K. Meantime you may

ask for atip report and check the file movement, also you have to be 100 percent proof

of your residency before hiring a lawyer i.e. lease/ownership paper for property, T4,

employment certificate , utility bills.. etc... travel record you may order your self as

well CBSA report which clearly inform you about your entry record...

my application is pending since 33 months and have a residence questionnaire so

my application fall in non routine and processing time is 35 months.
