Hello everyone!

Has anyone sponsored their spouse from Afghanistan here? I recently got married in June, and am just preparing the application now. I understand the sponsorship has to be done through Islamabad, Pakistan, and the current timeline for Pakistan is 26 months :( Anyone know if the 26 months will also apply to Afghanistan applications or if there is a different time limit for Afghanistan?

Also not many people have last names in Afghanistan including my dear wife. They use the first name and then 'son of/daughter of' ... The application requires last names, but there are no last names in any of her documents like her passport and her other ID's. Should I leave the last name portion blank (doesn't sound like good idea to me), or should i put my last name as her last name, since she will be taking my last name anyways once she gets here? ???

help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and thank you

if all, her papers is her surname just use it.

What is her name on her passport? That is what should be used on the forms.
Some people with the 'daughter of ...' type of name use this as their surname/last name in Western countries, even though in their own culture that is not what it is.
However, you will have to explain this in the application. I would put the 'daughter of ...' as the last name on the forms, if that is what is listed in her passport. Then attach an explanation stating that this is not actually her last name ,..., as you explained here. Anyone processing the forms in Pakistan will be aware of this cultural norm, in any case.

I think the user Guzelyol is also sponsoring their partner from Afghanistan. But I don't think they are dealing with Islamabad. I guess it's best to check with him/her.
