I am on work permit until Aug 2016 and wants to apply for my spouse open work permit . Can anyone tell me how long does it takes for the processing case like mine ? Also how hard it is to get a work permit if I am already a foriegn worker? We got married 22nd nov 2015. Waiting for ITA on 454. Thanks alot .

One to two weeks for spouse open work permit. Good luck and get it before ITA.

thanKS . Do we have to be married for 6 months to get the spouse work permit ? Like is it ok to give it a try just after a month of our wedding ?

Your welcome. If you receive an ITA before work permit application. You wife' chances of getting the permit approve will decrease.

currently for new work permit or renewal of work permit is taking around 3-4 month... pls check on cic website for the current processing time .... for my spouse i got in 5th month after submission ... lots of back log and delay ...

Depends on which country you apply from. I know people who managed to get their wives WP in a week after marriage but not in Canada.

could depend...honestly...mine took around 4 months to come thru...and the processing times given in the cic website can be misleading at times...

once you apply for work permit ... she will be in implied status and you can stay(if it is first wp for her) and work (if it is renewal) ... i assume you are applying on dependent (open WP) .. so i think you should go ahead and apply ... may be in jan they will speedup the process after holiday ... we can just hope for best ....
