Ive read twice on here that someone got final approval the same time they got AIP...which means, that they only had to wait for the first stage approval ...and then WHAM PR is granted!

How common is this?

If you did get this special treatment, what was your situation?

I'm thinking that if this is common for slamdunk apps...me and my significant other might qualify.*fingers crossed*

She's from Japan (not a country known for ppl wanting to get out of)
Both of us are healthy, no kids, late 20's...
We've been living together in Canada for 3 years as Common-Law
She's been in Canada for 10 years.
University educated in Canada and has a career as a teacher for special needs kids.
I make above average income at a bank.
We submitted over 100 pictures of us together and on trips to Vegas etc. signed lease agreements, insurance, joint bank accounts.
We also submit the medical and police checks at the same time we submit the app and paid the full fee up front.

Does anyone have any experience getting AIP and final approval at the same time? how did your situation/app compare to mine?

thanks!

I got DM about an hour after I got AIP. How our case compares:

I'm from the U.S.
Healthy, no kids, early 30's (well, he was 29 when we started)
Met in Oklahoma, U.S. (he lived there four years) in Sept 2010, moved in together July 2011, married April 2012, moved to Québec July 2012, applied October 2012
I didn't even visit Canada until May 2012 (our HHT - military-speak for house-hunting trip), returned with him for the move in July
I studied at university in U.S. - no degree, lack about a year, only "career" is steady history of administrative jobs within higher education
He's an officer, makes a decent salary
Submitted minimal proof; four pages containing 8 printed, colour photos, a paragraph about each (when we first met each other's family, vacations we've taken abroad, my first Canadian Thanksgiving here, etc.), along with three travel itineraries
Didn't submit police and medical, but realized our mistake and sent them in after AOR but before AIP/DM

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to getting AIP/DM at the same time, and stage two seems to vary wildly. In our case, everything was pretty straight-forward. At the time we applied, Stage one was listed at 6 months. It took over 10 months, but then we got DM the same day. So perhaps when AIP takes a long time, DM comes faster?

You may have actually got AIP around 6 months, but whoever was working on your file for some reason or another didn't update eCAS or send any email or letter out... and then finished stage 2 in another 4 months, realized they forgot AIP stage and backdated it. Or perhaps someone accidentally missed your file during stage 1 and they fast-tracked it through stage 2 to make up. Who really knows!

Due to clerical errors people sometimes get processed faster. There's been some cases outland i've read about on here, where applicants have been approved within weeks of their application being submitted to the outland visa office, obviously due to some clerical glitch that allowed them to jump the queue ahead of others waiting to even have their files opened.

In the end I don't think it always depends on your particular case, but is a mix of luck, coincidence and how organized the visa office is at any given time.

I think that's the bottom line!
