I am from NYC though currently in Canada. I don't know how we can help each other, though. What's your idea?

Idea was to help each other with information on documentation, paperwork etc. Are you done with your Express Entry process?

I have an ITA for FSW - I qualified for CEC and FSW - in the most recent draw, March 27. I entered the EE pool in early February.

You need to qualify in two ways for EE: first, you have to meet the requirements of one of the programs, most likely FSW and/or CEC, and then you have to qualify for permanent residence by being healthy and not a criminal or terrorist! You can find the requirements on CIC's website, but basically for CEC you have to have worked full-time and legally in Canada for at least one full year, and for FSW you have to have worked full time for at least one full year in any country in an O, A, or B occupation as classified in the NOC, which can also be found on the CIC website.

There are other requirements as far as proving your English and/or French proficiency, your educational accomplishments, work history, and your financial situation.

The things you should do before submitting an EE profile are: take a language test, even if English is your first language. If you speak French, take that one, too, and if you have a spouse or partner, they should do the same. It has to be one of the tests approved on the CIC site. Then submit your diplomas to one of the approved educational assessment institutions listed on the CIC site.

These two things - your language test scores and your educational assessment will lift your scores when you apply for EE. Then, go through the Come to Canada wizard to check that you have the minimum score for acceptance. Assuming you do, create a MyCIC account and enter your information on the EE website. It will take you through all the steps, give you a score, and tell you when you are in the pool. You will also have to register in the Job Bank by uploading information and a resume.

It is an absolutely astonishing amount of paperwork. You have to REALLY want to come to Canada, as this process will have you jumping through an exhausting number of hoops.

One final thing that will help: When you fill out your EE form it will be tempting to exaggerate things in order to pad your score. DON'T!! Answer absolutely truthfully. If you don't have your language test score yet, don't imagine what it will be. If you have $200 in the bank, don't say you have $2000 and figure you'll get it somewhere. Claim only employment you can prove through reference letters, pay stubs, contracts, and the like. If the educational assessment says you have a bachelor's degree and you believe you have a master's - write bachelor's. If you have a partner or children, don't hide them.

If your score is lower than you would like, at least you won't have to decline invitations and hope to get another, and your permanent residence application will match what you said you had on EE.

Woah, thank you for the detailed reply.

Yeah, I realized the amount of paperwork after I had already spent more than a thousand dollars (attorney fee etc). I have booked my place for the IELTS test (which I am not too worried about). I'm in the process of doing ECA and this is not as easy as it looks. I did my masters from Bharathidasan university in India and I've spent the past two years looking for the process to get the marksheets from them (pay the fee, submit forms etc). So far no luck :( I have emailed the attorneys, but I think I'll get a generic response from them. The university site is also not very helpful, though I did email them.

Thanks for the fantastic comment, appreciate it :) And no, I am not going to exaggerate anything, as it only adds problems later.
