The visa office received my PP since May 17th and haven't heard anything yet, and I was told that it would take about 2wks.

guess no one answered you on our boards... sorry! the time i've seen from everyone who's gotten thru has been between 2 and 6 weeks... we took two weeks, and that seems to be the norm, but it's not unheard of for them to take longer...

i think if you miss the first call (or they couldn't get thru for whatever reason), it can take them a month to call back....

also, with the current state of affairs, things are undoubtely backlogged... even if the office was open, there is no guarentee all staff showed up for work last week... i'm not sure i would have left my house if it was me....

try writing them an email and inquiring... sometimes people get results this way...

good luck...

edit... i just remembered you were sending from ?bahamas?... not sure how long it takes them to send back.. those are guidelines for the in-person pickups... i imagine mail service of all types have been disrupted as well, but i'm not sure what the precedence is for returning via mail... sorry!

CHELLEY: :) Thanks for responding! Well the visa office called me and told me to send the PP to them and it will take about 2wks for me to get it back. I also had to purchase a prepaid FEDEX bill and fedex it along with the PP, so that they can send it back to me via courier. So I've been checking my FEDEX account everyday and my E-CAS online application status hasn't changed from: In process.

You mentioned in-person pickup: Do you mean that you personally took your PP there and they called you to pick it up when it was ready?

Yeah I've emailed them yesterday, so hopefully I'll get a respond soon. My husband and I are so tired of all the waiting and time being apart. But knowing the it's almost over is comforting! And I figured due to the crisis last week, that would put a delay in things. Are you from Ja.?

i'm the canadian... my hubby is the jamaican.. the in-jamaica standard process is that they call you to drop it off and then call you (usually about 2 weeks later) to pick it up... we were living in jamaica during the processing time (i'm one that got thru much faster than i anticipated, in 4m, so our stay wasn't as long as i thought it would be), so i went with my hubby to pick up the passport...

as for eCas... we had the visa in hand for about a week before the update to "Decision Made" was made... we got a laugh trying to figure out what the decision was :) another girl's hubby had landed before the "decision made" was made... we stayed 2 more months in jamaica so my children could finish their school term.... landed may 4th, got out just before all the madness erupted thankfully....

how long has the process been for you? i know the wait is hard... hubby and i were separated for most of my pregnancy (we submitted the day before our son was born (mat leave was the reason we could spend the time in ja)

WOW! I could only imagine how difficult that must've been for you guys to be separated during your pregnancy, but it's wonderful to know that everything worked out and you and your family are together.

Well we send our application around the second week of January,2010 and they started processing on Feb. 19. And we also had to send an application to Quebec immigration because my husband lives in Mtl. We got the certificate of selection from Quebec around the third week in March, and then my E-CAS status showed that they started processing my application on the 23rd. So the entire process took about 4months too because it was May 4 when they called requesting me to send my PP.

At that time I was in Mtl visiting my husband, so I returned to following week to fedex it to them. I just hope and pray that we'll hear something soon! We just got married in December,2009, which makes it even harder being apart!

CHELLEY: Do you know if there's any other way of finding out any information about the returning of my PP, other than via email. I sent an email on Tues. and I was listening to their automative phone system, which said the average time to get a response is within 28-30days for general inquiries and 5 days if THEY DEEM the situation to be urgent. I emailed them because my husband and I are supposed to be travelling to England to my sister's graduation and we can't finalized anything arrangements without knowing when I will get my PP back. I'm so frustrated right now and don't know what other step to take!
