Hello
I was just wondering if anyone has had the experience of being asked for a 2nd police certificate? I don't know what to make of this.
Here is our situation...
My husband got his police certificate in India at the end of June 08. I wasn't able to send in our application until Sept. since I spent the summer in India. When I returned in Sept, I callled Cnd Immigration and was told the police report was fine as long as it reached them before the 3 month expiry but that they might ask for a 2nd police report. I was approved as my husband's sponsor end of Oct. and then they sent the application to New Delhi and began processing beginning of Nov. At the end of Nov., my husband got a letter from the CHC asking him to submit his passport and a details of foreign travel form. So we were thrilled thinking that the next step would be a visa!! He submitted his passport beginning of December.
I was visiting my husband over the Christmas holidays. He had a missed call from CHC just before Christmas. We called the next day and were told whoever called would return our call but they never did. The day after that, we were planning to call again late afternoon if no one called but we got a registered letter that day. We were so excited thinking it was my husband's visa! But they had simply returned his passport and sent a letter asking him to submit another police certificate as they one they had on file was "not acceptable". No reason was given for why it wasn't acceptable. We called to ask for clarification and were told they were closed for the holidays and to call again on Dec. 29. We did but they said that they don't take phone calls so we had to ask our question by email or fax. I sent an email that day asking if they could please explain why his police certificate was not acceptable. It's now over a month later and we have still not received a response.
We assumed that the problem must be that the police certificate was expired, since everything else about the original seemed fine. So we got a 2nd police certificate and my husband sent that in. Now it's been 3 weeks and still no response.
I'm just really confused why they would have asked for his passport first and then later the police certificate. If they knew the certificate was expired, why didn't they ask for that first and then the passport? And why didn't they keep his passport? Why did they return it?? Is it typical to not get a response to your email??
Is it normal that they do ask for a 2nd police certificate? What are other people's experiences?
I really need some advice and reassurance. I am just so worried because I found out last week that my husband and I are expecting a baby! We are thrilled to pieces but of course that makes it that much more difficult not knowing when my husband can come here. I really need his support right now especially because I don't have any family or close friends where I live since I just moved to the city where I live a year ago to go back to school.
Anyway, if anyone has experience in being asked for a 2nd police report, can you please share your story with me?
Thank you so much.
