Hello Guys,
Can you guys please offer your piece of advise.I am from 9ja also but based in Jamaica now since the past one year plus.I am married to a Jamaican wife and we both intend moving to canada permanently. We have not submitted our application yet but intend doing so soon.I was waiting for the schools to resume in Nigeria which i heard hopeful that that might be next week.I studied accounting from Yaba Tech and Economics from Lasu while my wife is a Licensed Pharmacist from Jamaica.Unfortunately she cannot be the principal applicant for now but i can be since i have even worked two years before leaving 9ja in the accountant's capacity.I just have a few questions i guess for now.Considering the ease of laying hands on necessary documents from 9ja and looking at the 9ja factor issue i want to know who to address our documents to at the respective embassies, like i will have to use Jamaica but i believe it will be addressed to same persons there ie documents like transcript,PCC,letters from Employer etc.
Also,i want to know if the money that we need must have been in our account for a long time or they just want to see the money there cos we intend borrowing the money and you know the lender will only give the money when its close to us sending all necessary documents.
Do i have to get letters from all my former employers or can i just use the last one that i am still in touch with cos i can't reach the others at all.
Also,i used to collect my salary in cash hence never really had a bank account or salary account so i hope they will not request for an account to show the movement of my salary then.
At the moment am not yet working but studying for my ACCA exams,am i still safe?
Do i need to send my wife's passport data page when am sending mine too at the first instance?

I guess these are the few questions i have for now till more questions comes up should the need arise.

Thanks all.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
hi anerr777,
i'll try to answer some of ur questions with the little knowledge i ave abt FSW1
first i think u shd apply from naija,it'll b easier for u 2 gather ur docs as long as u ave someone in naija dat can follow up 4 u as per d docs,PCC n stuff.
second,u only need letters from employers of jobs u r claiming points
third, they will not need ur sal account, only need a savings or fixed dep in ur name to show proof of funds
fourth,u dont need 2 send ur wife's passport datapage, just urs
n lastly,i think u r safe,but 2 b on d safe side,just go to the website www.cic.gc.ca n check d guide 4 more accurate info.hope this helps

aner777,
Apologies, i didn't respond to this earlier, as i thought other pple would point u in the right direction, and that you'll find answers to your questions by going through some 9ja threads. Nice to see you're looking into this canadian FSW thingy. Abisola has addressed your points mostly.

First off, to determine your eligibility for the FSW-C50, you need to got thru the NOC 1111 for Accountants to see if your previous experience matches closely those on the NOC code. If it does, you're good to go. If not, you can still try your luck - who knows? or speak to your previous employers on this.

Secondly, you don't have to wait for the strike to be called off, especially if you have some proof of your Yaba tech qualifications. Your initial application goes to CIO - Sydney, and you'll get 120days afterwards to send in your docs to the visa office. The details of the application guides are all on the cic site. Try to download a fresh one from the site, rather than using one that had been saved on your PC for a while. Those forms and guides are updated very frequently, i think it was updated as recent as two weeks ago.

Thirdly, you may choose Accra as your visa office. Whether or not you'll be able to file in at Jamaica depends on your immigration/residency status in Jamaica, and the duration of your initial residency grant/permit into the country. If it was for less than a year at the first instance, then Jamaica can refuse to process your file, and forward it to Accra. They may still refuse to process it for Program Integrity reasons even after meeting the residency criteria. U may read up on my detailed responses to megastu12 on the "Aluta Continua thread". And its no big deal who you address your docs to, as long as it says CIC / CHC FSW caseworker xyz address country .... My transcripts weren't addressed to CiC, and i explained the reasons in my covering letter.

Fouthly, people have varying levels of financial activities on their accounts, you do not need to show your salary statements of accounts - like Abisola said. What they want is proof of funds. Accra used to demand for 12month bank statement with salary lodgements, few years ago, but not anymore. Whatever way you intend to prove that(savings or fixed dep), i would advise you try to give a credible and reasonable explanation of your financial capability to avoid the caseworker requesting for any additional info about your finances.

Lastly, you do not need to be currently employed to apply for the FSW. Being an ACCA student wouldn't disqualify you in any way. And to add to Bisola's point on the passports, pls include the page showing your residency visa when sending the forms to Sydney. Without it, they will be unable to tell wheteher you qualify to have your case assessed in Jamaica or not, and they will just recommend your file to Accra for further processing.
