Hi guys,

I am applying for PR under EE stream and I am applying with my common-law partner who is born in Mexico.

We got his birth certificate and family relationship in Spanish and were told that these are need to be translated into English before the submission.

The thing is that his family relationship is 14 pages long ... would cost a lot to get it translated. The official translator even asked if they are ALL need to be translated.

The first 1-3 pages contains the family member's name with their birthday and ID card numbers. (I think this is the essential parts to be translated, isnt it?)

And the last 10 pages contains the pictures of their ID cards of all the family members.

Does it necessary to translate even the ID cards pages? Anyone knows?

Why do you need these documents in the first place? (ID cards of his family members, birth certificate, etc.)

Does he have any siblings/relatives who are PR or Canadian citizens? Does he actually need the points under the six selection factors and or CRS points?

Either way, 14 pages shouldn't break the bank depending on the Spanish translator you're using. I used a certified ATIO translator and I thought the price was fair.

Hi DelPiero07,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

My immigration consultant asked me to gather the birth certificate and family relationship of my common-law partner at the same time I gather my own family documents. His direct siblings are in Mexico and none of them are PR or Canadian citizens (only his 4 years old nephew is Canadian since she was born in Canada)

Under our EE score, we have 2 education points and 8 language ability point obtained from my common-law partner.

I contacted to the BC registered English-Spanish translator and they were asking $60 for translating one single page... so expecting to be more than 600 for translating a whole pages..

Maybe I'm missing something here as I do not understand why your consultant is asking for those documents. You didn't mention anything about the six selection factors so the assumption would also be that you're a CEC applicant.

Either way, usually when you try to translate a single page there is a fixed cost for that. Once you ask for a quote for a certain number of pages the cost will be based on the number of words per page. I translated about 20 pages and didn't pay more than $300.

Yes, I am CEC Inland applicant.

Thanks a lot. I will ask for a quote when it comes to larger pages... Hope they wouldn't charge too much.
