Any way to call IRCC without a Canadian phone #?

We have US cell phones and I cannot call the 1-888 # I was given about a problem I am having bc it says you can only call from Canada. We are physically in Canada and live in Canada but these are the phones we have. Any way around this? I could certainly borrow someone's phone to make a call but I doubt they answer and am assuming they have to be able to call you back. Any help appreciated.

My solution was to get a free VOIP Canadian phone number from freephoneline.ca and use that to call them. But I suspect borrowing someone's phone could work too - call them from the borrowed phone, and if you get through but they need to give you a callback, then offer your US number. I expect they'd have no problems with that - and if they do, just ask them to email you back instead of calling back.
