Hi, I am wondering whether any one got reference letter from Wallmart Canada. I have worked there for 2 months as a sales specialist. I have T4 and Record of employment docs with me. just want to add reference letter before getting ITA . Even though it is a NOC C job, I have mentioned it in my profile and I am sure that I have to prove it.
Has any one tried with just T4 and ROE before?? some people say that if you are working in Canada, ROE and T4 is enough if ref letter is not available.

Any thoughts??

Did you request a reference letter from them?

My Wife requested a letter from a company in Canada that she worked for 6 years ago. They said her file was shredded and they couldn't do it. We submitted the T4 and paystubs and a letter of explanation. If the employment is not crucial to you being eligible (which yours is not) then I'm pretty sure they will understand it. Just make sure to write a letter of explanation.

I can't give you the perfect answer but my did job in walmart for 1 month and we were not able to obtain the letter from them so we submitted roe, may be cic also knows that walmart is not a small biz, it's a big corporate and great has certain rule, final answer go forward with roe as roe is genrated by service Canada and have designation on it....thanks

Thanks for the reply.
How can I add the letter of explanation?/
can I make a pdf file with T4 and ROE then explaining the situation?? or do I have to add the explanation in the additional details section??

one more question: can I ask my bank to provide me with the copy of the pay stub?? or the number of pay cheque I received during that period?/ is it possible?/ because I received my cheque through bank (Direct deposit)

any suggestions?

take the unskilled work that doesn't give you points out of your EE profile. Once you get an ITA you fill in a work history form and you put it in there. The EE profile is for calculating points, no need to put things that don't give you any in there.

Thanks purplesnow,

but again we have to mention that work history in the personal history section right??
That is what I am worried about. what if CIC says its a misrepresentation??

It IS misrepresentation. Don't be fooled. Is it enough to be denied or to be banned for 5 years? probably not but no one but that particular CIC agent looking at your files knows. but why bother?

The question clearly asked you to list ALL work history...so just do it.

Type out the letter, print and sign it, then scan it along with your ROE and T4 into a single PDF. Or alternatively merge the 3 PDFs into a single PDF if you scan them separately. In your letter mention that you reached out to Walmart HR and they denied your request for such a letter as per their policy. The good news is, everyone at CIC has heard of Walmart before and they will completely understand. With a mom and pop shop they may want to contact them so I would suggest putting in contact info into the letter, but I'm guessing they wouldn't bother with Walmart.

I doubt the bank will be able to provide much in terms of proof of payment. What you could do is go online and get your own bank records showing the deposits, but again it's probably unnecessary. However by law an employer must provide you pay stubs even if they pay with direct deposit. I've never worked for walmart but they would have likely provided you with pdf stubs by email or more likely have an online system that you log into to download your stubs. I'm not sure if at this point it is too late to get them but I would not be concerned. Your T4 and ROE are better proof as they have been verified by the CRA anyway.

ROE is actually generated by the company (trust me, I've filled them out for my former employees) but it IS sent to the CRA (and by extension Service Canada) and is easily verifiable by CIC if they cared to check. So your point is valid, ROE is a good thing to submit.

Thanks Dynonobel,

Actually I went to My bank (TD) and requested the pay stub details for that period. They said they will inform me once they receive the details at their branch. meanwhile I will do as you mentioned above.
by the way, the problem with online deposit details from the bank website is, it doesn't show the employer name so there is no sense in showing that.

Thanks a lot.
