Hi Gigab, I applied to the Guatemala Office too. I sent in my application in Febuary of 2010 and I got AOR on March 14th. I see you were requested to have your medical exams done already. Your application has moved very fast. I am also from Honduras and Im hoping my application will move fast as well.

Hi jmboy3:

It's nice to know people applying to the same visa office, specially from the same country. As you can see Guatemala is moving fast. We are planning to make the appointment for medicals on Friday. So let's keep in touch. As you said your AOR was fast. Soon they will ask you for full documents, so start preparing your documents, you have a lot of work, translating everything and sending documents to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. If you need help or have any questions, feel free to ask us, we can help you.

Gigab and Jmboy3:

I am from Nicaragua and applied under the NOC 0111 last year. I have already sent full documents to CIC SD: I live in Dominican Republic so I had to work with SD. I am waiting for Medical Request (Hopefully).

I am very glad I get to see people from Central America applying for FSW-PRV.

Let´s be in touch..

Hi,

I see that a couple of more people have applied from Central America, I got my PR card yesterday so my thing is done till I ask for citizenship. Gigab, you should be getting your visa by next month if you haven't gotten it yet. I'm more than glad to answer questions, just that sometimes it may take me a little while since I'm sorta busy looking for a job to support myself up here. Cheers

Hi! So Happy to see someone from Nicaragua and Honduras.
Maybe you guys can help me out a bit with my question since I am just going to reapplied this week. Sorry for the long text but just want you to understand.

Hope someone can help me out understand if my old application was actually refused.

Back in Jan 2008 (a month before the change in requirements for the FSW) I applied to my local Visa Office per old instructions. By that time I did not know that the requirements were going to change on Feb. 2008.

However, anyone would think that even though I submitted my application Jan 28th and was received at the office Jan 29th the new requirements would not applied to me (Feb 08). Suprisingly wrong, since I know other offices respect this dates, however It took the Visa Office 1 year and 3 month to send me a letter telling me basically that in Feb. 2008 there were new requirements and that application on or after that date should comply with them. Did send letters and support documentation DHL tracking dates to the office showing that they received it before Feb. 28th but no luck.
And so they assessed my application under the new process with only the 38 NOCs being considered.

Unfortunately due to an honest mistake I chose a wrong NOC back them when submitting my application
0114 Adminstrative Mgr. instead of 0111 - Financial Manager or Controllers (my real title for 1yrs experience back them-have proof from HR)
Of course 0114 was not in the NOC least and therefore in their letter the Office said that
" As your occupation(s) are not included on the list of eligible occupations, we are unable to process your application at this time.¨ Those this mean that my application was refused or just that I did not have the right requirements and by no means I should considered as refused.

I asked this questions since now I am reapplying, I have 2 more years of experiece as Controllers and I have 2 doubts on how to fill my application properly due to these incidents.

1: There is a question is the application Schedule 1 that says ¨Have you been refused status in, or an immigrant or permanent resident vida to Canada" - Should I say NO or YES, should I explain that my previous application was intended to be process by the old system but that coincided with the change of new system and therefore I am resending my updated application or Should I just say NO and not explain anything? (Please Help)

2: In this application should I not correct the NOC 0114 to 0111 and just leave it as 1 year 0114 and 2 years of 0111, however the job descreptions would be really similar. This would be in order to avoid more explanation if they verified that I applied before and now I have no 0114 on my application but instead 3 years of 0111.

Please I would really appreciate your answers promptly since I found out yesterday that the NOC list may change and would be really sad to see that now 0111 is gone from the just before I reapplied. Hopefully since now applications are being sent to NS dates of submitting applications would be respected. :(
Thank you very much in advance :)

Hi Gigab,
I am not from Guatemala, but… I am from Chile and we share the office to which the medical exams are sent. Did you send your medical exams already? My exams were received in Trinidad & Tobago on May 19. ;D

Hi Zygurn,
I understand that you are already in Canada… where in Canada?

Hi Arlesoma,
I am not quite sure about the answer to your question, but if it was me... I will answer YES and explain the situation. You will not be affected by this situation, and it is better to tell the truth straight forward. Again, it is only my personal opinion.
Good luck to all,
NeN

Hi Arlesoma:
I think you should tell the truth, that you already applied and were refused. Trust me there would be no problem. My case is similar since I'd already applied in 2003 and was refused. And I answered Yes to the question and explain why was I refused ( at the moment I had only 65 points).
In reference to your Noc code, you should apply with the noc that appears in the 38 occupation list.

Hi Nen:
the doctor sent our medicals to Trinidad April 17 , but the rest of my documents were sent April 28, 2010.We received the request for Passports and RPF one week later, May 5th and sent passports May 6th. Still waiting.

Gigab,

Why do you have to send documents to minister of foreign affairs? Dont you just have to have them notarized and a traduction?

Gigab,
Did you get your passport back? :)
I have a couple of questions regarding the certifixation, in the CIC instructions it says}:
¨Who can certify copies?People authorized to certify copies include the following:
Outside Canada:

a judge
a magistrate
a notary public
an officer of a court of justice
a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living ¨

1-Which one of the above is in the Ministry of Foreign Affair?
2-Is it easier through the ministry than a notary public?
3-Why did you choose the ministry over a notary, would there be a risk with a notary?

Hope your passport is back and that soon you are going to Canada after your process of one year, what city are you going to?
Arlesoma :)

If I remember correctly, whenever we (in Honduras) obtain a legal document which is gonna be used for something international, the people that give you the document tell you to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to legalize it for international use. To be honest, I never did legalize nor translate any document at all and I had no issue whatsoever. Always ask your CIC office about these things (they told me originals as given are fine hence why I never did anything beyond obtaining them).

Zygurn,
Thanks for your answer, specially since you are already in Canada and you still care to help us (who are in the process)....very nice of you ;)
I eventually, if everything goes well, will be submitting my documents to the Guatemala Office as you did.

1- You mentioned ¨Always ask your CIC office about these things (they told me originals as given are fine hence why I never did anything beyond obtaining them).¨How did you get in touch with the CIC officers of Guatemala, I know they have an inquiry e-mail...I have used it in my old application but I never got accurate or good answers, they were alwasys vague or really general.... Could you kindly and would you mind giving me your contact for future usage (you can e-mail me directly) if it is ok with you.

2- How about your Honduran Police certificate, Court Clearence, Birth Certificate which are in spanish...
Officers did not have you translate this to english and certified the copies?

3- In my case I studied highschool and College in Amercian Schools so this won´t need translations, however don´t I need to certifiy them too? I can´t send originals of this, otherwise I loose my originals. I have to send copies and certified them, don´t I?

Plesasssssssssssssse your help and guidance with these 3 questions.
Thank you again for your time. :)

Hi Arlesoma:

About communicating with CIC Guatemala, I really never being lucky truth is we are using a lawyer so every communnication is being trough them. Probably Zygurn could help you with that question.
About police certificates and court certificates they are send originals so they don't need to be notarized. Just translate them and certify the translation. With court certificates you take them to the supreme court in Tegucigalpa to be certify.
About the rest of documents to be send original DO NOT notarize just send certify translations. The rest of the documents to be send as copies DO notarize and send certify translations.

Hope to this was helpful.
