Hi All,
We submitted an application for proof of citizenship for our daughter last July, as we are planning to move to Canada from the USA this summer. It said that it would take 5 months, so we figured that was plenty of time. We haven't received any word since then, which I now know is common.
I'm wondering if we should resubmit her application asking for urgent processing, but it's unclear if that would actually speed things up very much. Has anyone had any luck going this route? I've tried several times to submit web forms asking for urgent processing, but I just get back form emails.
We're planning to have my daughter start secondary school in Victoria this September, and we're concerned that without her proof of citizenship we may have difficulty both entering the country and possibly enrolling her in school. My wife is a Canadian citizen, and and I will be entering as a new permanent resident.
Thanks for any thoughts!
