Hi as I said previously on my other topic I was deported from USA after I overstayed for about 9 years.

Now I wanna move to canada but I wanna do it legally, so my question is Im filling out the form to get a temporary visa so I can then get a work permit.

Im from Portugal so I could just go to canada without a visa, but I think I need the temporary visa so i can apply for a work permit, is this right?

Or can I apply to work permit just on the visitor status?

Also on the temporary visitor form it asks about if I was ordered to leave any country before, should I tell them the truth about usa deportation? And would this have them denying my application? :(

Thanks a lot, any answer would be much appreciated guys.

You must tell the truth about your deportation. If you don't and CIC finds out, then you'll receive a 2 year ban from Canada for misrepresentation. If CIC doesn't catch this lie during the TRV process but later catches this lie when you apply for PR and a more extensive background check is performed - PR will be denied + 2 year ban. Same goes for citizenship. You must tell the truth. Remember that Canada and the US share a great deal of informaiton.

No - you don't need a TRV to apply for a work permit.

To apply for a work permit, you need a job offer from an employer and an approved LMO (labour market opinion) also provided by the employer.

Well first of all thanks a lot for the fast response.

Now thats good and scary news, as I never did anything criminal whatsoever in USA only a couple of parking tickets and I got one more ticket for being on the beach outside the permited time, but Im afraid of the canada immigration to reject me :( .. anyway..

But its exactly what I thought, Im gonna say the truth no matter what, I know Im not a criminal that could harm anyone or any country ahah ^^ at least Ill have my consciousness clear.

Are you sure about the work permit question and temporary resident visa question?

As Iver read somewhere I think I need to apply for a work permit before I move to canada, is this true?
OR can I move to canada and while on my visitor status apply to a work permit within canada?

Thanks a lot
