Took a test in February in New York. First of, be prepared to spend the whole day at the center. They are also EXTREMELY anal about security. You have to bring all the documentation they ask you to bring (no exceptions), otherwise you won't be able to take the test and these tests aren't offered regularly. They'll take a photo of you, and have your thumb prints taken electronically. For the Reading, Writing and Listening sections, you will be in a room with other test-takers, passport on the floor beside you, and nothing other than paper and pencil. Very limited bathroom breaks, so don't be drinking cups of coffee before coming, and even if you have to go to the bathroom, you will be thumb-printed when leaving and when returning. The speaking test is just you with the instructor in a classroom. I don't know what other pertinent details to give, do you have specific questions about the experience?
