Hi,
I'm planning to sponsor my partner to immigrate from the UK to Canada. I'm a teacher in the UK right now and has an arborist. Does anyone know how much money they're really looking for you to have to show you can 'support' your partner? My parents have offered us free accomadation while we settle in and I have $10000 usd in savings. We also have a 2 month old who will be a Canadian citizen coming with us. Any thoughts?

You just need to show your intent to come back to Canada once the process is done. No Financial Req.
Since it's common law - joint bank accounts lease/mortage etc. Whatever you share together other than your child.

There is no minimum income requirement for spousal sponsorship. You need to show that you can support yourselves in Canada without welfare. You can do that through income, savings, family assistance, income potential etc.

Not sure whether your are aware about the current employment situation when it comes to teachers. Unless you are a French teacher I would be very careful as to where you decide to relocate. There is a surplus of teachers in most provinces but due to cutbacks in many provinces it may take even longer to get a teaching job. Location will definitely influence who long it may take to get a full-time job.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not planning to continue my career as a teacher. That's just what I'm trained to do. We're moving to the Yukon so it shouldn't be an issue
