Any experiences with entry visas at the NY consulate?

Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience applying for entry visas at the NY consulate of Canada? Any chance there's same day service? I have a valid work permit and entry visa, but that visa is in a now expired passport. Has anyone every tried this?

1. There is no same day service.
2. If you have a valid TRV in a cancelled passport, you can enter by carrying both passports.
