Hi there,

Looking for any CEC applicant from Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Thanks.
Cheers,
Raagaa

..present Raga ;D..September applicant..

Thanks. Thats a wonderful news. Any service Canada counters in Fort Mac? I am in India right now, I'll move to Fort Mac as soon as I get approved. This will be my first time in AB, was looking for some guidance regarding Fort Mac.

Thanks.
Cheers,
Raagaa

yep, there is service canada here, too. ;)
welcome to fort mc ;)

Thanks Cinderella. Hope to be there asap. Our applications are just days apart from each other, to have somebody traveling in the same boat is an asset for further immigration related processes. I hope to connect in person with you.

Cheers,

So I have heard but I have also heard that the job opportunities are also lucrative and abundant.
Any first hand experience and suggestions are welcome whether to relocate to Fort Mac or not?

Thanks.

Main problem is housing rest no problem..never been there..

Yeah. When I am researching the rents are sky rocketting . I was hoping to network with people who could provide us better understanding of the place. It'll be a good reference material for future candidates who are planning to relocate to Fort Mac.

For money wise, Fort Mcmurray is the best. But for a place to live it's okay just learn to love it, I've been here for 4 years already.
If you're looking for a job, preferably site job, better apply online, then if you have interview, that's the only time you fly to come here. Once you got the job then start settling here. It would be easier for you because here everything is expensive. It's better to adjust into a place when you already have a job.

But if you're looking for a job like in the fast food, restaurant, groceries, dept. store, etc easy to find a job.

That is just my suggestion ;)

Thanks Cinderella, really appreciate your suggestion.
I am more into management side of business. I am looking at project management/ business analytics kind of jobs. Due to huge presence of oil sands, I was considering moving to Fort Mac.
I am not looking for a Toronto / Vancouver lifestyle in Fort Mac but what I have researched, I think it's going to be adequate.

Hopefully I land a good accommodation arrangement and rest should follow :-)

Thanks again.

I do not understand why living is so much expensive there ?

I searched the average rental prices for the month starting from $2200 for 2 bedroom apartment..

Supply and demand. There is a shortage of places although I believe construction plans are underway. Also, with people making such large salaries the rents are "affordable" unless you are in the lower service industry. Costs of transportation for food and building supplies is also a factor. Extreme winter weather lasting for many months increases costs, too.
