Hi guys ... So I just received a notification in my CIC account that Ontario is interested in nominating me for a Provincial Nomination. Now, I know that getting a Provincial Nomination gets you an additional 600 points, however do you get anything else out of this besides the points ? I currently have 475 CRS points, so I'm hopeful that I may get an ITA soon without needing a Provincial Nomination (fingers crossed!). Getting a Provincial Nomination I think requires you to only live in that Province once you get to Canada, and that's something I'd like to avoid getting bound to if possible.

So need suggestions on this ...

Fewer docs to submit at CIC stage for PNPs as CIC will only check for admissibility.

There are people here who got ITA during OINP process and their OINP applications were withdrawn (I guess CIC alerts OINP/MCIIT directly). So you don't need to apply to OINP at all with a score of 475, or else you will lose $1500. :)

Reading this what I am not clear on is if you received a nomination from Ontario through your CIC account without applying to OINP. OINP identified you in the Express Entry pool automatically and offered you Provincial nomination without you applying for it?

475 CRS points is a pretty healthy score, chances are very good for you to receive an ITA without the need for OOPNP, but if you accept it, as you know your points would become 475 + 600 and you would be guaranteed an ITA in the next draw.

Receiving PR through a Provincial Nomination does not mean you are bonded indefinately to a province though; you are free to live and work anywhere in Canada after you've become a permanent resident. Look up the Canadian Charter of Rights. It says Every citizen of Canada and every person who has the status of a permanent resident of Canada has the right
(a) to move to and take up residence in any province; and
(b) to pursue the gaining of a livelihood in any province.

However, there is an agreement between the applicant and the nominating province that it is your intention to settle in their province; but most provinces do not state how long you should remain in their province as far as I know.

Congratulations you should have gotten an ITA tonight.
