Hello everyone, I have a somewhat unusual PGWP situation.
First I will start off with my background,
I first came to Canada in August, 2010, and studied in high school for two years. And then went to McMaster University for a Four-year Bachelor of Commerce program, it started in September 2012 and I graduated from it in June 2016. And after that I started a second degree program at the same school (McMaster).
This second degree program is also a 4-year program but since it is second degree, the school allows people to finish it only for 60 units (2 years if 30 units taken per academic year). I am in the final year of this program and in June 2018 I will be graduating from it and get a bachelor of arts degree in Economics.
My question is how many years of the PGWP will I end up getting when apply for it in next year?
Here are my few concerns regrading to this problem:
1. I studied for the second degree in September 2016 to the end of April 2017 and will be studying to finish it in September 2017 to the end of April 2018. If counting the summer time of 2017 which is now which I am not taking any classes, then the actual duration of time I spend on this second degree is 20 months --- will this be resulting getting a 20 months PGWP?
2. The official program length of this second degree is 4 years, and I have some school documents to show that ( for example, the enrollment letter indicates I am now level 4 of a 4 year program). Thus, according to this, can I assume the PGWP will be 3 years because on CIC website it says it should be based on the official length of the program.
3. My passport is only valid up to May 3, 2020, which is less than 3 years if I apply for PGWP in May or June next year. So hypothetically speaking, if a officer wants to grant me a 3-year PGWP and they see my passport validity and say 'oh okay, you can only get somewhere up to your passport validity' and give me a PGWP less than 3 years. Then can I reapply for it after I renewed my passport and ask for the remaining time?
My main concern is whether they will issue me a 20 months PGWP or 2 years or 3 years.
Sorry for my long essay and thanks for reading it, I am really really looking forward to hearing from everyone about what do you think on these questions.
Thanks a lot!!
