Hello I have a question and I will be glad if you can help me out.
I have a daughter that just turned 18 and she is applying as well for the Canadian citizenship.
She did same small summer job and she was never required to file tax and in the section 12 of the CIT 0002E she wrote No to required to file and No on tax filed.
Can she apply without any tax paid since she was living with me and I paid the tax for the family or she need to wait 4 more years before she can apply?
Thanks in advance for the help.

The requirement is to have complied with tax FILING requirements . . . for three of the five TAX years prior to applying. (That is, it is NOT about paying taxes but properly filing tax returns, if required to do so; CRA is the agency which enforces the payment of any taxes due.)

Any year the applicant was not required to file a tax return (under CRA rules) will count as one of the years meeting the filing obligations, whether or not the applicant filed a return that year.

An 18 year old who has never had enough employment or other income, personally, to be required to file a return can just check "NO" in both columns (column for "required to file?" and column for "filed?") and that will meet the requirement. No problem.

Not at all likely IRCC will so much as blink, let alone have any questions or doubts, since this is a very likely scenario for an 18 year old.
