Greetings!

I am a Canadian citizen who has been living in New York for the last 4 years. I've recently decided to move back to canada with my wife, whom is an American citizen and got married to while I was living there.

I am planing on driving to canada with my furniture and will need to declare I am moving back but will my wife have any initial trouble getting into Canada if my plan is to apply for inland permanent resident permit for her later? What exactly do I need to say to the border agent regarding my wife? She currently is an American citizen and she would like to work in Canada at some point.

Thank you in advance for your kind help.

It may be a issue with the border as they will see that your wife will be "moving" to canada as oppose to "visiting" when you are coming back with all your furniture.

I was in the same boat. I lived in NJ for 5 years. it wasn't a problem with me and my wife crossing into Canada with just our luggage. I went back a week later to get all my furniture back.
