Dear Cross-border employment experts and/or someone in the same situation,

I am currently an American living abroad in Canada as a Canadian Permanent Resident, and I am planning to start an incorporated engineering consulting business as an independent contractor and 100% owner of this incorporated foreign business. The clientele will be both Canadian and US companies looking to outsource engineering, compliance, and other associated work. The work will be performed 100% remotely from Canada with occasional non-mandatory onsite client visits.

For the US Clients, how would I proceed in doing business with them? Is it basically just invoicing them the hours and bill in USD, and then receiving the payment (which is paid to the incorporation business name) into a Cross Border Bank Business Account such as TD Bank US/Canada? Do I need to establish anything else in the US, or am I fine since the incorporated business is a separate entity from myself? What impacts does the status of me being an American living abroad play in this?

Would it be as simple as utilizing a Canadian PEO with the US Company, and then subcontracting as with the Canadian PEO?

Sincerely,
Charles

Thank you Scylla, I updated the posting to be more general. Hopefully, someone in the same shoes can help advise.
