I flew into Vancouver from Las Vegas on the 6th of December for a medical consultation and was issued a Visitor Record to only cover the dates in my itinerary (06-12-2009 to 08-12-2009) because the customs people suspected I'd stay for good. I left on time but I did not check in with CBSA before leaving the country as specifically stated I do so in the remarks secton of the visitor record. The remark reads "Must confirm departure at CBSA front office at Vancouver Int. Airport on or before 08DEC2009 with boarding pass 3 hours prior to flight." I didnt check in because I would have missed my flight if I did so. Will this be a problem for me down the road when I want to visit Canada again? Thank you

it was better for you to do it the way they directed in your visa. now you need to keep the proof of your return back home just in case.
hope senior members help with advice in this case.

Keep your outward boarding pass. I don't know if there is a "central agency" in Canada who would actually be able to receive your visitor record together with your "proof" that you left already left Canada. You can probably send your visitor record together with your outward boarding pass to this office in Vancouver. But have duplicate copies of whatever you are sending just in case your departure hasn't been properly recorded at the the data base so you have something to show when you enter Canada again in the future. Now you just have to find the address. :(

I agree with the others, send them a copy of your proof. Also carry it with you if you return to Canada. This will prove for sure that you did not overstay.

That being said, even though you didn't overstay, you still violated the terms of your stay by not following the instructions given and they may hold that against you as you have already proved that you cannot be trusted to comply with the conditions of your stay.

I don't think this causes an automatic bar, but it certainly will make it harder for you next time.
