Hi everyone.
I am a new member in this forum which I think is a great idea to meet people an exchange thoughts and experiences.So here is my request for a job in Canada
curious to know if anyone out there can help or give me important advice.so here is my story;;
I am a american/german citizen born in a small worker town near Philadelphia Pa.with an American Passport. I immigrated with my parents (who are both German citizens) back to Hamburg Germany at the beginning of the 70´s at the age of 14 years. Finished school in Germany started an apprenticeship as a car/truck mechanic which turned up as a flop.So I switched to a second apprenticeship which was the ship supply buisiness. This was a complete sucess graduated with certificate as grand and foreign trade merchant.So I am still in this buisiness and specialized myself in the procurement of technical spare parts of all kinds for big sea going vessels. Even industrial parts for shipyards.I am doing this occupation for more than 20 years now with a long experience.Now in Germany at present the economy is absolutly flat.Besides that point the most important fact for a german employer is your age. So when you get past the 45 year limit and the higher you are in age the less chance you have getting a job because the turks and russians and africans are cheaper. I think this is discriminating for the own german people.
So I want to take advantage now of my dual citrizenship and would like to ask what else can be done in order to come into Canada to work besides having to get an job offer from a canadian employer? All or most all of the Canadian employers when directly asking say are you in Canada and of course I am in Germany.Well tough luck for you then you must be in the country with an official visa.I could have had a job 6 months ago.
So to make a long story short.and I hope someday to be in Canada I am looking for a jobopening as a purchase officer either in ship supply buisiness.shipyard or shipowner like for example APL Canada or Maersk or CSL. Would be very appreciated for any comment and advice.
