am I qualified under NOC 4131 college and other vocational instructors ??

I got plus one year of experince as Teaching Assistant for Under graduate students during my master's.
here is my job duties:

1) TEACHING ASSISTANT (Part Time)
New Jersey Institute of Technology.
09/2007 (September 2007) to 12/2008 (December 2008)
NOC: 4131

Main Duties:

Assisted Under graduate students in Physics,Maths and Computer Science Course work and Helped Professors for same course works.


1) Provided assistant to undergraduate students of Physics and Computer Science course work in understanding of different topics during office hours.
2) Helped professor in assigning weekly homework, case studies, term projects and seminars.
3) Provided solution of weekly home works.
4) Helped professor in preparing quiz and exams papers.
5) Provided solution for quiz and exams papers.
6) Helped Professors in developing curriculum and preparing teaching materials and outlines for the course.
7) Grading of the home works, quizzes and exams.

I thought the only option was to apply for 4131 which is in the 38 list. Can we apply under 4122 also? Please clarify.

Please let me know if 4131 is the only NOC code or if I can apply under 4122. My job duties match both NOC codes, but my title is more like 4122.

no he doesnt...he has to teach as a full time guy - Maybe supervising teaching assistants. Not a teaching assistant himself.

It doesnt have to be full time. I am a teaching assistant who qualified under 4131 (at least at Sydney stage).

The OP needs to determine if he does the job that is specific for 4131 not just those that are in common.

Thanks everyone. Been a teaching assistant for 2.5 years and a head ta for part of the time before I gladly went back to being a regular ta. Just finished downloading the forms. Now I have to start reading the printouts to see the requirements.

All of you are so helpful and are doing a great job. Maybe someday I can hope to give more answers to others and ask less questions (crossing fingers that this is the case).

before you start filling out the form, check the duties of the relevant NOCs. Remember its up to you and your managers to prove that you fall under the relevant NOC.

I personally think you should give it a go. Don't forget that none of us on this forum is/are Immigration Consultants and every case is judged on/by it's own merits. By the way, what have you got to loose? You get your money refunded if you do not pass the initial screening. So go for it. I have advised my friend who is an ESL Full time Teacher, teaching in a secondary school to do the same. ESL teachers are on the 4131 list. The job description and main duties are the same. The only difference here is "Secondary and College". I also know that in some countries, Secondary schools are called colleges as well.

Give it a go and keep your fingers crossed.

Hey Bobbyb, i am not sure if Chsurti has one year of full time experience or equivalent. Hows the waiting going. i seem to check my status once every two days....not sure why i do it. Its not going to speed it up lol.
