Experts Pls suggest

I have applied for the FSW 2013 under category - 2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers.

The eligibility criteria is that I should have a degree/diploma in Computer Sciences.

As part of the process I applied for the ECA - Education credential assessment though ICAS - International Credential Assessment Service of Canada

After the evaluation they are saying that my diploma is not valid because it is not recognized by AICTE. INDIA.

What are my options? Kindly advice.

Hello fsw-can

Were you not aware beforehand that your Diploma is not recognized by AICTE?? I'm afraid this could mean trouble for you. Did you try WES website?

Thanks ESZB.

I was not aware. Because its a top institute and as far as getting a job after passing out from that institute (at the time i took admission) was a piece of cake so no-one really bothered for any recognition. But now when I checked the reality is that my program "alone" was not recognized by AICTE.

Even if I try for a ECA again from WES, im sure the result is again going to be the same because they would be using the same background check agency. Isnt it?

Is there any alternative?

I recommend that you contact AICTE immediately and confirm the recognition status of your diploma on their side. If they do recognize then convey this to ICAS that they have made a mistake. On the other hand in AICTE fails to recognize your diploma then I'm afraid it would not be possible for you to apply for FSW.

Try the free equivalency of WES maybe ICAS is mistaken... maybe ...u know just in case. :)

http://www.wes.org/ca/fswp/

Check above link of WES. The free equivalency service is there.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate your help.

Are the educational qualification assessment polices for FSW same for all four evaluating organizations? i.e

Comparative Education Service: University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies;
International Credential Assessment Service of Canada;
World Education Services; and,
Medical Council of Canada.

You're welcome brother. I am sorry I am not in a position to comment regarding qualification assessment polices of these organizations as it is not within my knowledge.

Did you submit your FSW application without ECA?

Unfortunately without ECA, your application is going to be automatically refused. ECA is a mandatory document that must be included with the initial application package (not provided later).

Ok! to clear some things.

I had filed my application on May 4, 2013. As part of the FSW process, I had to get my ECA. I have now got my ECA which I have to send to the Canadian Authorities.

BUT, the ECA report (that I have received) from ICAS says that my degree/diploma is not equivalent to any qualification in Canada because at the time of my attendance (in 2000) my course was not recognized by AICTE.

Can anyone suggest any alternative.

There is no solution, you sent an incomplete application, so it is going to be returned.

From what you have said above, I understand the following facts:

(a) You submitted (on May 4, 2013) your FSW 2013 application without the required ECA document.

You then claim that "As part of the FSW process, I had to get my ECA".....didn't you also know that as part of the FSW 2013 process you are/were required to submit the ECA with the FSW application?

(b) Then, despite the FACT that your ECA indicated that your "degree/diploma is not equivalent to any qualification in Canada" you still went ahead and submitted the "not equivalent" ECA to CIC to (supposedly) complete the FSW application you submitted in (a)

How does the above facts make any sense?

This isn't even a situation of you not understanding the process, instead, it is clear from this situation that you indeed understood the process but deliberately disregarded the application requirements. By doing the above you may have even compromised your future applications (if you decide to re-apply).

What exactly are you now expecting CIC to do with your application?

(1) Are you thinking that CIC is going to overlook the fact that your initial FSW application did not include the ECA?

(2) Are you expecting that if CIC overlooked (1), CIC is also going to overlook the fact that your ECA states that your "degree/diploma is not equivalent to any qualification in Canada"?

I would be somewhat surprised that if you submitted your application on May 4, 2013 (as you claim), you haven't already received the rejection letter from CIC as yet. Have you received a rejection letter from CIC?

I do not see any alternative for you at this time, well, certainly not for FSW 2013, especially given the fact that you are applying under NOC 2174.

Does anyone know if you challenge and pass exams for your programme at an approved institution, will they accept that for evaluation?
