Hi,

Even I'm too planning to go for studies to Canada in Sept. 2012/Jan 2013 intake. Now, from whatever research online I did, reading forums, spoken to people, consultancies etc. I've gathered quiet some info on this topic (not much and in no way I'm an expert :D)

Nevertheless.... Seems, with good percentage, work experience, and if you do the course in Hospitality/ other services background (or may be in commerce/finance/ accounting/management.. really depends on your interest)..I think you are good to go. It does look good from outside.. BUT I've this feeling that 1 year diploma/Certificate programme in Saskatchewan is a choice that won't make visa officers very confident on you, returning back to your country. I mean, seriously if it was a post grad course..the scenario would have been different, but here you are going for your 1st major qualification and 1 year is too short of a time. On top you are opting for Saskatchewan, where the PNP for students stream is very favorable and these are bound to raise questions regarding your intention to study there and it simply looks like your main motive is immigration. You should opt for a bachelor's degree (in some University under SPP)or at-least a 2 years diploma ( in colleges covered under SPP- for example SIAST is the best choice in Sask.) to show the VO that you are indeed serious about your education and going for actual skill/qualification up-gradation. Age should not be an issue. This way your visa chances will be better and as well as you will get 2-3 years post grad work permit after studies, depending on the course. This is solely my personal opinion, others/seniors/enfield are welcome to comment.

Best of luck

Hi tiger,
I really appriciate your help.I get it.V.o. might look me as a future immigrant by choosing one year course.so it will be risky to choose.
So 2 year's course will be advisable . right?

if i choose 2 years programe.is there any negative point in the apllication? Seniors plz.tiger u also welcome.

As far as age is concerned,,,forget it ..i am 30 years old and i got a visa ,,i had 9 years of work experience after my studies in india
secondly,,1 year or 2 year course is ur option,,visa officer doesnt look at it the way people are suggesting you on this forum,,,you should know that whatever the course you choose should match either with ur studies or your experience
However working in visa consultancy will definitely create problems for you as VO will assume you to be a person who knows immigration rules and will think of you as a possible immigrant

Hi Sandip,

As I said, I'm no expert. And at-least I'm being open for it. Now I said..I feel that with your profile, going for a first qualification, such a short 1 year course MAY create doubts, and if you opt for a bachelor's degree or at least an extensive 2 years diploma, it will be better as it shows you are serious about your skill up-gradation. And not just 2 years diploma or bachelor's, but the more reputed the course and university is, your finances etc. are stronger, the more chances of getting visa. And it all depends case to case.

Well, they definitely look for matching course with previous studies and work ex, and regarding 1 or 2 years course, well they may not look at this criteria but regarding this specific case, one cannot be 100% sure that the VO will not look and disregard a 1 year certificate/diploma course since, this is the candidate's 1st major qualification, and more extensive the the course is related to previous study/work ex the better it is.

Hi,

1. With 12th as a qualification + 4 years of gap (it won't be a gap if you can submit self ITR/Form 16 otherwise your work experience is of NO use), may NOT be a good idea to select any certificate/diploma course. It will only prove your 'weak level of establishment'. Instead, try for a bachelor degree (highly recommended).
2. Your work in a visa company has nothing to do with your processing.

Hi Enfield,

Only people with an annual salary of more than Rs 1.5 lakhs are eligible for Form 16. Similarly, individuals who owe no income tax need not file income tax and wouldn't have any ITR. So why would a lower salary make their experience useless? In my opinion, the only question is whether the experience is relevant to the intended study program.

Hi,

1. It's not about lower salary but a 'weak level of establishment' as demonstrated by the OP's work profile and salary of Rs. 9,850/month (CAD 200) even after 4 years of work/gap. It's a very well known fact that such work experience letter can be easily procured/manipulated.

2. I quote; "the only question is whether the experience is relevant to the intended study program."

CHC is mainly interested in applicant's level of establishment. Doesn't matter whether it's related to your previous education.

Hi Enfield,

Can one submit an ITR/form 16 later, after an year's gap? I mean if some1 holds a valid work ex previously..1 year ago.., and got the salary in cash.. and didn't bother to fill ITR then...can one do on a later date/now? Is it possible by ITR rules? Will that be acceptable by the Canadian embassy/VO?

Plz reply.

Hi,

1. Yes, you can submit the late ITR with visa application. It's OPTIONAL to submit ITR.
2. Should be no penalty/interest for not filing the ITR by July 31st of the given year (due date is always March 31st) otherwise, you would be liable to pay simple interest of 1% per month on the due amount payable.
