Am I Eligible for PNP with Line Cook Experience in Nova Scotia?

I worked as a line cook in Nova Scotia, starting January 2023 while on a study permit. I’ve been on a work permit since May 2024. I’ve accumulated over 1560 hours, including my part-time work during my study permit. I know PNP for the food industry is currently paused, but when it resumes, will I qualify under the skilled worker stream?

Recently, an immigration consultant mentioned I could count my study permit work experience and even work as a line cook in a different industry (like a college) to apply for PNP in just one month.

I’m a bit confused and need help verifying this information. Any guidance or helpful resources would be greatly appreciated.

Which Nova Scotia stream? Is your employer designated and willing to support your nomination?

To be honest I had no idea there are 10 pathways under NSNP Skilled worker stream as well. My NOC code is 63220 (TEER 3) as a line cook. And I believed gaining one year experience under any employer qualifies me for PNP. Am i getting something wrong?

Is your employer designated, eligible and willing to support the nomination. Go on the NS PNP site and read the requirements for each pathway.

Yes they are designated to support PNPs and also they have supported a couple employees earlier. Additionally, they are designated under the Atlantic immigration program but they are not willing to give me AIP, they said yes for PNP only.

Ok. So read through the NS requirements and see if you are eligible. I can’t tell you that by just knowing that you are a line cook. There are other requirements. PR through PNPs are not easy and based on quotas and NOCs.
