Am I eligible for EI ?

I was working for 10 months and my employer applied for an LMO and work permit before my work permit expired. The LMO took a while and got returned due to some changes in the immigration procedure. My employer prepare additional additional documents and applied again but by the time that happened my work permit got expired and I got terminated. I applied for EI one week later and this was on july 31st. I called ei a few times and submitted proof that I applied for a new work permit. The last person I spoke to said I have implied status and the officer in charge will take a look at all my documents and see if they have to wait for me to receive the new work permit or not.
Just wanted to know if anyone was in a similar situation and whether they got their EI approved. I also am submitting my PR application mid october ( waiting for police clearance ). My partner is sponsoring me so i am eligible for an open work permit if it gets approved.
