I'm currently on the 2nd year of a holiday work visa and have been a full time broiler cook for 16 months. I haven't really been interested in immigration up until recently that I was informed I can apply P.R through my job through the CEC as apparently my job title is skilled (also heard they are planning to lower the year experience).
However say they do lower the year experience, I would be eligible right away as I have the hours. I've already contacted two lawyers and they both said they do not see only any red flags, only if I don't get a high language test mark, I'm from the UK so it doesn't really apply to me. Now the real problem is I meet all the requirements but with the NOC job requirement under cook it said I would of been expected to either have years of commercial cooking or graduated from a three year certification program etc. Problem is I'm only 20 so don't really have that. Back in the UK I worked in a hotel as a kitchen helper over a summer course before coming over to Canada applying for dish washing jobs. One restaurant though had trouble finding a broiler cook and saw I had some kitchen experience so they decided to hire and on the job train me and I have done fine since. All the job duties required for a cook which is stated on the NOC website is 90% of what I do for my job.
I've already told both my lawyers this and they both said they are more interested in how many hours you have acquired and if your jobs duties match your current job, meaning they are not interested in any past jobs you have done.
So I'm in a pickle, I don't know if I'm eligible? I've looked over and over again on the official immigration website guidelines but theres no requirements stating that I need to have previous experience, just showing I have the experience I attained in Canada.
