Hi,

I've got a question and I hope you can help me here. I (german citizenship) would like to apply for the Provincial Nominee Program of British Columbia in a few years. Let's say I am eligible and chosen as a provincial nominee of BC.

Does that mean that I would also be a permanent resident? Is a provincial nominee a permanent resident? (or is a provincial nominee eligible for permanent residence)

Thank you, :D

No, a provincial nominee is someone being supported by a province for permanent residence. This support is given mainly thanks to the candidates' suitability for establishing social and economic ties to Canada (eg: already has a permanent and full-time offer for a job, has a Canadian university degree etc. based on the PNP stream you choose to apply to in any given province)

This in turn will mean that your application will be assessed faster and not undergo as much scrutiny as, let's say, CEC. Now although some people here will argue on how "fast-tracked" your application is but the truth is that fast or slow, I have yet to see a legitimate PNP appication get refused at the Federal stage.. So it is pretty much guaranteed once you are nominated, it is just a question of when!

Once you get your nomination, they will give you roughly 6 months to send your application to CIC with the nomination letter attached. A nomination by itself has no status or meaning.
