Am I allowed to apply for TRV and PR at the same time?

I've sent my PR application to CIC and it is on its way there. Is it possible for me to apply to extend my TRV now? I'm afraid it would cause confusion on their end.

Yes you can definitely apply for TRV if you are planning to leave Canada, without any problem.
Been there, done that, shouldnt be any problem.

You cannot extend a TRV, only get a new one.

Are you sure you want to extend a TRV? From the sounds of it you want to extend your visitor status.

OP has an open work permit until 2019 and may have plans to travel out of Canada, as they indicated in their other thread, so they are asking about a TRV.
