Hello guys

After 7 months, the consulate asked for my passport to stamp my visa as PR.

I'm already in Canada with a tourist visa that is going to expire on early November.
So now that the Consulate has ordered my passport, should I extend my tourist one even if it's for like a couple of weeks? Otherwise there'll be a gap of time here without a valid status.

As I'm checking out, usually it takes 1 week for the Consulate to deliver back your passport.
So what should I do?

2nd Question:

I'm going to spend Christmas time and New Year's at my home with my partner.(departure december 15). But I'm going to get my visa before it. I was thinking about going to the USA and enter with the Permanent Resident Visa.
The problem is that it allows only ONE Entry (I know I need to wait for the PR Card, but I really need to go home in December).

Is there any way of coming back without this problem?

Thank you.

I think you need to extend your status before the current visitor record will be expired because otherwise you are not allowed to stay in Canada, even if it's just one day. Also nobody knows when you can receive the COPR as it likely take around one month or a few months now to get it though I don't know where is your visa office.

If you can get the COPR before you leave Canada for your Christmas and New Year's holidays, you can come back to Canada by doing the landing with your COPR. Or if you already landed at the time and you don't get the PR card, you can apply for Travel Document ( www .cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/travel.asp ). Also you are allowed to return to Canada in a private vehicle by providing Record of Landing or COPR instead of PR card.

FYI, www .cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=64&t=10&expand=b

The thing is that it sucks to pay one more fee just because it might take one month to arrive my passport.
You know what I mean?

And in January, I'll be coming back to Québec by plane

I know... it sucks but that's just the way it is... If you got the COPR and then withdraw your visitor application before the CIC starts reviewing your application, they will refund the fees. I totally understand what you feel, but I don't think it's a good idea to just wait for receiving your passport back without extending the status because you are almost there, you don't need to take any risks. You can wait for the passport as long as you can (the day before expiring date) and then if you don't get it, just apply for a new visitor record. That's the best way I think.

And your returning Quebec in January without PR card (maybe), you need to get a Travel Document as you said you will come back by plane.
