Hello,

I have depended on this forum so much and after 4 months of stay in Canada, I think it's time I give my opinion about Centennial and its services.

I am currently doing my PGDM in Project Management. It is a one year program and is a 3 semester course. I enrolled with Centennial in September 2014 and have finished my semester-1.

Cutting the story short- I love truly love it here. I have had sooo many opportunities to excel and grow at this college. One of the first things I learnt in Canada was that ," Your network is your net-worth" and that is all I based my grounds on. I have been adamant on connecting with the right people, building my resume and growing my otherwise in-existent network in Canada and trust me, Centennial gives you chance to do that. I have seen so many posts whining about Centennial and its services and all I have to say is," Are you kidding me?". You cannot be unsuccessful in Canada if your head is in the right place and please take my word on that. I have friends who are busy partying and getting busy in their own world. They don't come to class and then fail the course. They will be the first to have a negative review about the college. I also have friends who are doing it right. They work at a part time job and still keep a 4 point GPA. My professors have been beyond helpful and truth be told having a good rapport with them will help a lot. Most of these
professors are from the industry and they have great contacts. That could be step-1 of building your network.

There are places the college can improve on such as the International Student Office being more cordial and approachable, the book store lowering its prices and certain people having to work on their manners. But if I were to base my opinion on an entire institution based on that rude receptionist in one of the schools I would be doing it wrong by the school.

The college has an amazing program called the leadership passport program where one of the members of the leadership forum mentor the enrolled student. It's an amazing opportunity to be mentored by people who have worked their way to success.

This college is the most underrated one and the reviews on this page has been mostly those of hearsay and is so so so wrong. I owed this review to both my college and to you people who consider studying in this college. Its an amazing place to be and all you need to do is be focused and work on your priorities, use every opportunity that comes your way- if you have not found opportunities here it is ONLY because you haven't looked enough.

I give a 4.5/5.

Haha hell911,

True that but only if you buy from the bookstore. But you always can buy second hand books or get a photocopy of the needed pages :)

Hi buddy,
Good you have a great opinion about centennial college. But I have different opinion.centennial provides very basic facilities that are available here in all Canadian college. So nothing special..Here in centennial most of them don't take responsibility. Mostly there are different sections for Canadians and non Canadians. They will not let you to mix up. Yes, you may voluntarily(persuade) network with Canadians if you want to but it's same quid pro quo . some friendship are genuine. And that's how we must mingle. In centennial college if you have a problem they will pass the buck around and clean their hands. None of them have a fixed solution. Because you know why?,except a few most of them will not be in this college for long time. Lectures here are part-time employees they don't care about you specifically. Any doubt you wanna clear they will hardly give you any time for that. They have different way of treating other ethically groups. One of the program coordinator made a vague comment about indians. he said " I know the indian standard of education " in a very satirical tone. Here they down play Indians. They treat Indians as low grade people. If a Canadian in our class asks a doubt the lecture takes time to explan and when we ask he snubs.employment opportunity are lean. My batch mates 3 out of 21 got a job. It's been a year now. Any one who thinks this is whining are in a orgasmic state. They are far from realty.

George Brown is Better college, Sheridan follows, then Seneca, then may be centennial college Because centennial give a lot of commission to agents to fill in their seats. I would give ---- 1.5/5

Good to have your opinion worldmariner.

Most of my professors teach at Seneca. Meaning Seneca has equal part time-professors as does any other college. The college has a budget as to how many full time professors come in and how many part time. It's a publicly funded college and this whole deal has a lot to do with the regulations. I am truly sorry to cut you out here, but where does anyone persuade anyone to network? You always do so at your own will. Now that satirical tone you refer to, I am sad to hear that. But in my batch we Indians have been highly respected, so much so one professor commented," You Indians are so smart I would hate to cut you any slack for the analytical paper."( Translation- Indians are good at math.) My point being, that comment you refer to is a personal opinion. Don't judge a college based on one person's opinion. The college has more than basic facilities- the gym, the library, the student center and did I mention the library?

Now, the job part I haven't gotten to it yet but as far as I know most of my seniors have landed a job at their internship company or in a month of graduation.
Yes,Centennial does have ties up with agents. I,myself came here through one of them. I am going beyond my way to tell you that there is potential that is being covered up most probably because of not being advertised properly. If you still are at the college -join the clubs, join your local groups, be nice to your professors, work on your resume 7 months before your graduation and apply for jobs 6 months before graduation because that is how long it takes for you and your job to find each other and live happily ever after. I am sure being an York University graduate would make the difference but GBC, Sheridian and Centennial are not any different from each other. People always post the negative remarks and very few talk about their good experience, coz lets face it the good is always forgotten.

Opportunities are there if you find them buddy. I am sorry you had bad experience, I hope you find a great job soon. Good luck! :)

Yes, Centennial College bookstore is total scam. They release books which are "Custom Edition" for centennial college only. LOL? These books are combined versions of several books and they call it "Custom Edition" :-X

Also, photocopied books are not allowed, but few pages is ok. My friend had photocopied book in english class, professor saw that book and told him to buy the new one or he will confiscate the photocopied book.

btw, i have cellphone screenshots of 3 books already ;D
