Hi,
I am applying through the Alberta Nominee Program (Employer Driven Stream) and I have a Canadian common-law partner, currently engaged. We've decided that he doesn't need to "sponsor" me because there is no need to - I have been in Canada for many years, have a good job, etc.
I still include his name on all my forms and we file our taxes together but...then I came across the Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM5409) that requires a signature from a Commissioner of Oaths (which I'd probably go and get if I need to) but but I'm just curious if this is really necessary since he's not sponsoring me.
Thanks,
Evelyn
