My first experience Canadian auto insurance :
Went to AMA / CAA to apply for membership it cost $96 it basically is the same thing as the AAA. Then went to different department with their auto insurance, the quote for a 6months policy is $724 for the liability only, and 1,700 for full comprehensive, me and my wife opted to get the the comprehensive to have peace of my driving the road. but the insurance guy told me that my rates will be lesser if i can provide them with my previous history of insurance in the US,and my driving records so that night i emailed geico and asked for my 6years prof of coverage with them and on the morning i recieved the email stating that i was insured with geico for the last 6 years and i don't have any accident and or claims on file i printed the email and i also printed my US-state abstract driving record and went to AMA and gave the letter to the insurance agent and behold my new rate is now $875 for 6months comprehensive which includes all my glass covered.
So i suggest have your driving records handy and the letter from your previous auto insurance. It saves you tons of cash.!!!!
