Hi guys,

I have a couple of questions about the AINP Alberta Work Experience stream that closes November 28th. My wife, who will be the principal applicant, is going on maternity leave in December. The application only states that the applicant has to be employed full time at the time of application. Should she mention in a cover letter her intent to go on maternity leave after she files the application?

Secondly, I've heard mixed responses from people regarding whether she needs to send a reference letter (it's not on the checklist). For those that have received their nomination, did you send a reference letter?

hi spookyb,

1) no need to mention anything about her maternity leave,as long as she is employed at the time the application is filled then everything is fine.
2) no need for reference letters from current and past employers for AINP-alberta work experience stream at all, that is why its considered an application on your own and no employer's support is required here.

good luck :)

Canadavisa13, thanks for your response. Another quick question....when filling out the application, they ask for all relatives in Canada. Is this just immediate family members, or extended family too (cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews etc.)? Coz that could be a long list....

hi spookyb you are welcome :)

as far as i know family members are defined by CIC as(mother-father-brothers-sisters-uncles-aunts) cousins are for sure not included in that definition. as for nieces and nephews im not really sure, you can google it and look up some more information.
wait for more seniors inputs, also you can speak to a call centre agent tomorrow

good luck :)

Just to clarify, I'm talking about the AINP application right now, not CIC. I can't find the definition of relative anywhere on the AINP website. Maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow.

spookyb,

yes i know you are talking about AINP.the definition for relatives when it comes to immigration is pretty much close for both federal and provincial governments.
your best bet is to give the AINP a call tomorrow they are friendly and informative.

by the way i saw that you have an application in process under CEC,can i ask why you plan to apply for AINP as well?

best regards :)

I do have an application for CEC, which I'm hoping to hear something about soon. I'm contemplating the AINP as a backup plan, and I wasn't going to do anything about it this soon, but the Alberta Work Experience stream is ending on Nov 28th. So I figured, I might as well have a nomination in hand in case something goes wrong with the CEC application. The work experience stream looked really straightforward (no employer sponsorship, no commitment to keep working for the same employer etc.).

Any thoughts?

spookyb i back you up for making this decision,no guarantee with immigration applications these days,so having a plan B is totally advisable specially we are seeing rules becoming hard and CAPS are implemented for almost every single immigration program.
nomination certificates are usually valid for 6 months so you can keep it in a side and wait a bit to see if there will be any outcome from your cec soon, since you are a february applicant you may hear something by next month (hopefully medical request).
while waiting on your nomination from the AINP authorities,it will also be benefical for you to apply for GSMS for your cec application to kinda get an idea at which processing stage your application at.

i wish you good luck,best regards :)

The last I applied for GCMS notes was a couple of months ago, and there had been no progress then. It's been a little slow for Feb applicants in the past couple of weeks, so I'll maybe wait another 2 weeks before I apply for my notes. But I am hoping to hear something from CIC in December. Unfortunately, that'll be too late for AINP Work Experience stream, which is why I wanted to send something out to them now.

What stream do you have an application under?
