1) I would need to wind up from India which could take a few months before finally landing in Calgary. In that case, would that pose any challenge in receiving the PR card right now when I come to Calgary in June?

I read in some posts that in case you are moving at a later date you would need to apply for PR then?

Is that the case? I have a date stamped on my visa which expires within the next few months so my landing formalities need to be completed by the expiry date.

2) Do I need to have the PR card before I can apply for the social insurance card?

Would someone please respond to these questions?

(1) You should land before your Visa expires. If neede you can go back and return at a later time.
If you are returning immeditely or do not have a Canada address, you may not get the PR card during your initial landing.
You can use your COPR document + Passport to re-enter Canada

(2) PR card is not required for SIN card application. COPR + Passport is enough
