Till now immigration to Canada was at all time high.. And demand increased for Canadian universities.. Will this reverse in future as we have the democratics back in US??
Not sure. Depends on how well US handle with COVID-19Till now immigration to Canada was at all time high.. And demand increased for Canadian universities.. Will this reverse in future as we have the democratics back in US??
biden promised already to give green cards and increase H1Bs, so surge for indians in USA to come to Canada will go down, which was very high these days...The new administration won't change anything on immigration
As JWeekend said, nothing much will change. It will probably go back to the Obama days of how things were done. No new changes but no attacks on H1B program eitherbiden promised already to give green cards and increase H1Bs, so surge for indians in USA to come to Canada will go down, which was very high these days...
also the SILICON valley which is affected mostly due to IT sector has Canada is their alternative place as it is near by and same time zone, i guess this will also get impacted,
The easiest way to get employment irrespective of any weather condition is IT sector, i was praying trump to win tbh
nothin much change is a worry for Canada, if they want more immigrants, they cant survive by producing themselves, they need to exports only then employment is created...As JWeekend said, nothing much will change. If there is one thing I learned in the US is that, it is extremely difficult for their government to initiative immigration legislation despite the rhetoric they spew while campaigning. This guy Stephen Miller in Trump's cabinet wanted to get rid of all legal immigration but even he could only do so much. Checks and balances of the US government. It can be good but it can also be bad.I can say as a former int student in the US that nothing significant is gonna change. It was already EXTREMELY hard to stay in the US and H1-B is a lottery-based visa. There is a cap of 34,000 (and now even less) of those who are invited to apply for it, others are just out of luck.
For the US, the main priority are refugees and its own citizens/residents. If you are not the wife of green card holder/citizen you can’t stay. The only exception is if you are willing to throw a lot of money to a lawyer who will prove that you are super talented and must get O1
I wish more countries would implement the point based system. It gives people a chance to be selected on the basis of their merit instead of random selection. :|Biden can unilaterally make the lives of H-1B and F-1 holders easier and hopefully will restore some confidence in the US among prospective emigrants, but yeah, I'd expect only a modest decline in interest in Canadian immigration for the time being. The Liberals are going full steam ahead on their 400,000+ a year targets, Canada is as welcoming as ever, and I get the sense it'll be a while before the Trump stench wears off my country.
Bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform is the vaporware of Washington. I'll believe it's going to happen when I see it. The last time moderate Republicans tried to cut a deal on immigration with Obama, their base revolted. Ironically, the Trump administration actually wanted to implement a points-based system modeled after Express Entry, but the Democrats didn't want to get rid of the diversity lottery.
Point system isn't perfect either.I wish more countries would implement the point based system. It gives people a chance to be selected on the basis of their merit instead of random selection. :|
Yeah, no system is perfect and can be exploited but a point based system is better than random selection of candidates. Cause at least the candidates who performed well get a better chance than the candidates who did the bare minimum.Point system isn't perfect either.
You're correct. But it can cause an overflow of educated candidates and only few people of crafts. Plus it's long, complicated and not safe.Yeah, no system is perfect and can be exploited but a point based system is better than random selection of candidates. Cause at least the candidates who performed well get a better chance than the candidates who did the bare minimum.
But that's just my personal opinion.
