I am also living outside canada (I am sponsor) living with my spouse. What did you submit at first with your application as proof of your intention to return to Canada? You are a Canadian citezen, is that right? What else did they request and what other proof of return did you send to the HK visa office iin order for them to continue processing the applcation and give a passport request?cms418 said:For some reason I was under the impression that since Taiwan was a visa exempt country to enter Canada that my wife would not have a passport request. I was wrong, we got it today via email!
I originally provided a brief 3 sentence statement in the space provided. Yah, I am Canadian.ashunandal said:I am also living outside canada (I am sponsor) living with my spouse. Thanks, it's going to be super fast!Fencesitter said:Awesome news! Congrats!
How long do you think it will take from the PPR to visa issued?

Hey, thanks again! Yah, we are stoked!Fencesitter said:Fantastic! You must be extremely excited! Well done!
Can you share your timeline from the the CIC-M received your app to present? Also, and sorry if you've already mentioned this, but is your spouse from Hong Kong?
Thanks,
FS
You sound like you provided a bullet proof app! Where you guys going to be back in Canada?Fencesitter said:I wish you guys all the best! I also hope you get the visa very soon...20 days isn't that long to wait...
I understand that the HK VO is slower for mainland applicants, but I really hope that our application goes through as quickly as yours did. We provided so much evidence, I can't see why it would be delayed. I am 100% sure the VO will not question a) genuineness of our relationship and b) proof of intention to return to Canada. My wife has always lived in Guangzhou, so the background check should be straightforward. My wife said that she knows several people from Guangzhou who received the visa very quickly. One case is similar to ours: white guy married to a Chinese woman (they also have a child together). They were approved in 6 months from the time CIC-M received...
I also just got some good news from my future Canadian employer. I am now a 12% owner of the company and I also have a more official title of "Vice President of Procurement". The documents are on the way for me to sign, so I will make copies in case I am requested to provide further proof of my intention to return to Canada.
Everything is going so well at the moment, I can't see the visa being an issue. I spent hours and hours on it and I am pretty sure I submitted a very detailed application, yet I kept it practical and to the point so as to avoid any unnecessary delays.
Crossing my fingers and toes! I really want to get back home by this time next year!

I am from the west and have options in Van, Calgary and Saskatoon. Undecided as to where yet!Fencesitter said:London, Ontario. You?
Yeah, well, we hope it's bulletproof....I just hope that we are not delayed simply because my wife is from the mainland. I'm guessing that if the genuineness is not in question, and everything else is good, they'll process quickly.

thanks! Yah, I remember. I was watching for a post from you. I was expecting to wait the 45 days but they were very fast with ours.hongkongguy said:Congrats, CMSWow, your application did get approved faster than mine.....remember that I told you they asked us to submit the Intention of Return in Feb and we submitted all the documents in early March...but so far, we have not got any response from them...sigh.....don't really know how long do we have to wait......anyways, congrats
