After PPR...?

I am a USA citizen applying outland for permanent residency. My husband is my sponsor and he is a Canadian citizen. My application (fees, medical results, etc.) are all in and are being processed as of October 19, 2012. On October 25, 2012 I received a passport request (PPR) via e-mail. Since I am from the USA I only needed to scan and e-mail a scanned copy of the photograph page of my passport.

My questions are...

1. What happens next? I've searched online but haven't found a detailed enough answer.
2. Will I receive my Canadian Permanent Resident visa by mail or e-mail? Will my status change online (currently it says "in process")?
3. I live an hour from a Canadian border. Can I go to the border to land, then re-enter the U.S., and enter Canada again a couple weeks later without my PR card (during that time the PR card will be mailed to my husband's address) or will he need to mail it to me in the U.S. in order for me to come back into Canada?

Thank you so much for any information!

Hey EAB714,

Congrats on the PPR! that's good news - it's the final stage! to answer your questions:
1- you need to wait :) a little more until they send you back the CPR (confirmation of Permanent Resident), to the address indicated in the application.
2. the COPR (a simple sheet of paper) will arrive by post, at your address (the one in the application). From what I have seen from other cases, it can take up to a month but also less! Normally ( but ecas is not very reliable) it should go from "in process" to "decision made" - once there is decision made, they send by post the COPR to you. BUT - sometimes ecas stays at "in process" and the COPR shows up at your door before it's updated ( the VO doesn't directly updated ecas, it's done somewhere in Canada apparently).
3. you can definitely go and land, and then come back. To enter again Canada, I don't think you will have a problem as you are visa-exempt anyway. You can also keep the COPR and show it again at the border if asked for it. Most people have reported having no troubles to go back and forth (for visa-exempt).

Good luck for the last stretch - you're almost there!

It depends where your final CoPR is being processed. In the case of CPP-O / Ottawa: If you give this forum a scan, you will see that the time between PPR and CoPR is quite a bit longer than LA (or Buffalo before). This isn't to be pessimistic- just fyi so you don't start stalking the mailman too much (like I have been).

I'm resisting the urge to mail CIC every single day. They said to allow 2-4 weeks more for processing and it's been 13 days...

That's Exactly how I feel right now. I was expecting it to take a lot longer before the PPR, but having sent in my PP I have got a lot more impatient!

My PPR was 26 September 2012, my passport arrived in LA on 28 September 2012, my COPR was issued on 10 October 2012, showed up at my company's US office on 12 October 2012, and I received it on 13 October 2012. So it took them 11 days from receipt of the passport to issuance of the COPR.

hii everyone
Me and my parents are sponsored by my elder brother in 2008
i am dependent i was 18 year old in 2008 when brother filed family immigration case.
We sent our medicals on 6 November 2012 and were expected to b expire on 6 November 2013 but till 20 october 2013 there was not any responce by CIC so we asked to MP on call that whats going on so he replied that validity of our medicals got extend by our immigration officer for 3 months and then after few days on 31st October 2013 our lawyer got PPR email in which written that You are required to submit your passport(s), photographs along with a copy of this letter by MAIL within the next THIRTY (30) days from the date of this letter. As the validity of your visa(s) has been already established and is limited to a fixed date, it CANNOT be extended under any circumstances. We therefore urge you to read and follow carefully the instructions below without delay:
as my parents are already in Canada as Visitor so they asked original passports for them and photocopy of mine as i am out of canada with photographs and fill form of eyecolor ,hieght etc
we sent all this via MAIL on 14 November 2013
and still waiting for passports and my original passport request
does anyone have idea whats going on with our case ??
please reply all and if someone is going through similar situation need your views about it
our VO is Los Angeles
thanks
